Meet Jennifer LaPoint
Hall of Fame athlete. Champion for the future of sports. Founder of COMPETE.

From the Ohio River to the world stage.
Jennifer's career started far from the typical training grounds. She began competitive water skiing on the Ohio River, where she grew up in Parkersburg, WV, and entered her first tournament at age 6. In high school, she was also a first-team All-State selection in volleyball three times and in basketball twice.
She knows firsthand what it takes to find a place to compete when you don't live near the center of your sport.

A career measured in records
Jennifer is the only three-time National Water Ski Champion under age 18. She went on to win two Collegiate Water Ski Championships for the University of Central Florida, and she was a Carnation Academic All Sports All American and a Converse All American in basketball.

Over 30 years as a professional water skier, she held or shared the world record in 1985, 1987, and 1996, won the professional world tour title in 1991, and won more than 30 pro events. In 2015, she was inducted into the Water Ski Hall of Fame.
3x World Record Holder
30+ Pro Event Wins
2x National Collegiate Champion
2015 Hall of Fame Inductee

A lifetime of growing sports
Winning was never the whole story.
Jennifer has spent her career bringing more people into sports. After college, she opened her own training center and water sports business. She also founded a grassroots organization that taught women and children to ski through free clinics across the country, which she considers one of her most important accomplishments. Today, she continues to share the sport at LaPoint Ski Park, the Orlando water ski club she runs with her husband, fellow Hall of Famer Kris LaPoint.
